A thankful heart

Presented by: Pastor Donna on November 20, 2016.

Praise and worship with thanksgiving is the most ardent way to empower your prayers to God. Having a thankful heart is key to all the benefits of a relationship with God and Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 13:15 Amplified Bible (AMP)

15 Through Him, therefore, let us at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.

Prayer is the way we communicate with God the Father. Praise and worship is a form of prayer.  When we sing praises to our God, we should not just read and sing the words, we should sing from our hearts and fellowship with the Lord.

When we pray for the power of God to intervene in whatever situation we need Him to act, we praise and worship him with a thankful heart and he hears our prayer.

112 Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who fears the Lord [with awe-inspired reverence and worships Him with obedience],
Who delights greatly in His commandments.

His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.

Wealth and riches are in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.

Light arises in the darkness for the upright;
He is gracious and compassionate and righteous (upright—in right standing with God).

It is well with the man who is gracious and lends;
He conducts his affairs with justice.

He will never be shaken;
The righteous will be remembered forever.

He will not fear bad news;
His heart is steadfast, trusting [confidently relying on and believing] in the Lord.

His heart is upheld, he will not fear
While he looks [with satisfaction] on his adversaries.

He has given freely to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever;
His horn will be exalted in honor.

Among the many reasons why we worship are:

  • Every blessing is from God.
  • It is God who ordained and makes everything good in our lives
  • Praise releases blessings.
  • Praise is the language of faith.

Psalm 34:1 Amplified Bible (AMP)

34 I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Praise is also the language of those who know that He sent the comforter, the holy Spirit. Praise is for those who know that Jesus ever lives to make intercession for us. Hallelujah!
