As with the other fruit of the Spirit, patience (or longsuffering) comes with abiding in the vine of Jesus Christ.
Galatians 5:22-23 New King James Version (NKJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Those who are in Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Often the lust of the flesh is seen as just sexual immorality. But it is any unnatural desire of anything that is contrary to the word of God. For the Galatians, they desired to return to the Mosaic Law. But there is no law that regulates the fruit of the Spirit.
Consider that there is a theology before the cross and there is a life after the cross. We who have crucified the flesh live our life after the cross. The cross changes everything.
John 15:4 New King James Version (NKJV)
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
Generally when you start talking about these things (the fruit of the Spirit) you will find that there is a challenge that comes for you to retain them. So when you start ministering and bringing forth the light of the truth on certain things that belong to you, Satan will try to take that away from you and try to keep you from believing that you can actually have that.
