The passion of Christ was a bloody and horrible event. Jesus suffered terribly at the hands of the Roman soldiers. Beaten, mocked, tortured, humiliated and crucified. Jesus went through all this willingly just for you.
Isaiah 53:2-4 King James Version (KJV)
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Not only was Rome rejecting him, but the Church itself was rejecting Jesus Christ. No matter what you’re grieving over today, Jesus is acquainted with it.
Isaiah prophesied under the anointing of God that this would one day happen – that Jesus would simply carry out the will of the Father, going through this just for you.
Why did the Jews want Jesus dead? John 19 tells us.
John 19:7 King James Version (KJV)
7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
So they were able to manipulate lying about this man who had never committed a sin. And after the beating then the crucifixion order was given. The indignity and suffering continued. The beating wasn’t enough.
