Knowing the Truth

Presented by: Pastor Tim on August 26, 2015.

Pastor Tim continues this series on ‘Right Believing Produces Freedom and Power’ with exhortations for us to Know the Truth.  Knowing the Truth will set you free.  How do you come to know the truth?  It is not through observing the Law.

John 8:32 King James Version (KJV)

32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

In this passage, Jesus is speaking to the Jews.  Everyone has studied and heard about the Law.  Even though you observe the Law, you still are subject to fear, sickness, oppression, and addiction.  But you cannot find freedom in the Law. The Law without the grace of God only brings you into more bondage.

Matthew 5:17 King James Version (KJV)

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law.

John 1:17 King James Version (KJV)

17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Grace is unmerited favor and comes from God.  Grace and mercy comes flooding into your life if you will let it. Jesus himself is Grace, Truth, and Mercy.

Galatians 3:13 King James Version (KJV)

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Only the truth has the power to open the doors of your prison. Take for example the passage in Acts of the Apostles when Paul and Silas were flogged and imprisoned.  At midnight they were singing and praising God and there was an earthquake and opened the prison doors and loosened their chains.

John 8:36 King James Version (KJV)

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

When you are set free by the truth of Jesus Christ, every wrong belief starts fading away. Every dark thought and bondage has no choice but to go away when exposed to the light of Jesus Christ, The Truth.

When you consider the whole armor of God, you know that the Helmet of Salvation protects your mind and thoughts and beliefs.

The more time you spend with Jesus, the less room there is in your life for addictions and other types of bondage.

Through this study, through receiving the light of God, the Grace of God, the power of God, the power of his son, Jesus Christ -The Truth, Knowing the Truth–this results in the opening of doors to those that are bound.
