The book of Acts describes the fulfillment of the power promise Jesus made to his disciples. You too can receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the advantage it provides.
Acts 2:4 New King James Version (NKJV)
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The infilling of the Holy Spirit will change your life forever. It gives power to witness, power to overcome adversity as well as understanding of the scriptures.
Luke 24:46 New King James Version (NKJV)
46 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,
It was written and it was necessary for Christ to suffer, die, rise from the dead. Because he went to the Father, he sent the Holy Spirit to his disciples on the day of Pentecost.
Mark 16:16-18 New King James Version (NKJV)
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
The great commission in Mark chapter 16 provides a glimpse of the miracles that Jesus’ followers will perform in his name.
Acts 19:1-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
19 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”
So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”
3 And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?”
So they said, “Into John’s baptism.”
4 Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.”
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. 7 Now the men were about twelve in all.
Paul laid hands on some disciples in Ephesus for them to receive the Holy Spirit and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
The indwelling power of the Holy Spirit is a lifetime of relationship and a lifetime of learning. It’s a lifetime of adjustment and a lifetime of praise.
